even into your word processor and use Text Search to find the same pairings.

formulas (stochastics, William's %R, On-Balance-Volume etc.). Two drives and
CGA compatibility are required.
Pete Skaarup, Oakland, CA, tells us that after loading the program on his hard
disk the program failed on most menu functions. We ran the program, selected
all the menu options and had no problems. Pete has a Toshiba XT P321SL running
DOS 3.2, with a monochrome monitor that is Hercules compatible, 512K of memory
and no resident utilities.

Comtrac
Finney, Russ
$7.50
#27201/1113
is, in the words of the author, " a sophisticated and flexible tool for the
serious commodity investor or broker. The program provides facilities for
entering, storing, and reporting all daily commodity account activity." We do
not pretend to be familiar with commodity trading, but the program itself
looked solid and easy to use. We would like to see it allow
non-case-sensitive response to y/n questions and for it to allow cursor keys
when entering fields, but for the price, who's complaining?
In addition to on-line data inquiry, Comtrac also prints daily reports to
track day trading, currently held open positions and open position liquidation
activity, plus a report which summarizes all of the day's activity, calculates
associated gains or losses, makes cash adjustments, subtracts margin
requirements, and reports either the excess cash available or the margin call
due.

deposits required at a given interest rate to attain an amount that will
provide you with a given level of withdrawals for a specified period of time.
Net present value, IRR, and amortization schedules are also included. I
recently used a program similar to this one to find out that a company was
trying to "lease" me some equipment at a rate that would amount to 25%
interest if I borrowed the money to buy it. Based on this information, I took
the cash out of a savings account that was only drawing 5.5% interest and
saved a lot of money.

StockBridge Software

provides two valuable capabilities for investors who use an their PC to track

market quotes from both the Unistox and StockCheck data bases offered by The
Source. In the past, stock quotes from on-line databases could be viewed on
your computer's screen, but were in a form that was completely unusable by any
microcomputer software. This program rapidly converts raw quotes that you
download from The Source into data that hundreds of popular programs can use.
This extends the power of investment analysis to any program that can "read"
industry-standard data formats (e.g., spreadsheets, graphics and charting
programs, and data-management software.
Secondly, it provides an integrated set of tools for manipulating and managing
lists of stocks (e.g., sorting, merging, and comparing) so you can use The
Source databases effectively. For example, if you want to follow certain
groups of securities, this makes it easy to produce a selected list that can
be electronically sent to The Source requesting that only the quotes for those
specific securities be transmitted back to you.
